About this course
Why are homo sapiens the top of the food chain? Tools. Tools are what put us on top. The UNIX command line provides an incredible set of tools that simplify everydays jobs, but few of us are literate enough to know the right commands for the right situation. This course will make you a master of man.
Description
Tools like sed, cat, awk, tr, grep, uniq… and shell-functions like | > & are tremendously powerful for solving ad-hoc engineering tasks. In this course you’ll get to know them all and go deep into UNIX. You’ll learn things like;
- Conference scheduling (curl, scripting language)
- Making an image gallery prototype (imagemagick)
- Instrumenting/automating your development (makefiles, shell scripts)
- Backup up my laptop (rsync, scp, TLS)
- Installing and configuring software you don’t understand (tcpdump, wireshark, mitmproxy)
- Stealing information (mitmproxy)
In the future you’ll be able to handle all kinds of ad-hoc situations dealing with data, troubleshooting and automation quickly and effectively.
Target Audience
Every engineer not able to give this course him or herself. Or people that usually open a CSV-file in Excel first.
